SUMMARY:

The AFP Tampa Bay Chapter Development Director works closely with the Chapter President and AFP of Tampa Bay Board of Directors to plan and implement strategy through strategic donor relationship management (identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, upgrade) to meet short and long-term goals of the organization. Working with volunteers and administrative staff, the Chapter Development Director plays a critical role in increasing support and acts as an ambassador for AFP Tampa Bay across the community.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (Masters and or CFRE preferred); or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Superior interpersonal communication, both oral and written, required
  • Experience and proficiency with moves management.
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Fundraising experience required and related work experience, including working with volunteers and leading committees
  • Willing to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and possible non-regular work schedules
  • Experience and proficiency with all Microsoft systems including Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Ability to create and write proposals, presentations, foundation grants and donor materials including development of case for support materials
  • Requires ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments in a timely manner to complete assignments when faced with competing deadlines
  • Commitment to the ideals and mission of AFP

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Accomplish and exceed fundraising goals by maintaining a portfolio of current donors and prospects; communicate with portfolio constituents through face-to-face relationship-building meetings and written strategies; ensure that a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship is in place for each donor and prospect, engaging other volunteers as appropriate

2.    Develop solicitation strategies and recognition for donors/prospects in support of the organizations’ annual operating budget; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.

3.    Support volunteer committee chairs by developing case for support and other solicitation materials which represent the committee’s established giving levels and stewardship benefits 

4.    Develop comprehensive retention, stewardship and recognition plan for current donors.  Work together with committee chairs to ensure stewardship and recognition benefits are established.    

5.    Review and refresh sponsorship benefits for all programs of AFP including National Philanthropy Day, monthly lunch programs, Emerging Leader’s Conference and all other opportunities as identified.  

6.    Track and report on progress to goal to Board members and committee chairs on a monthly basis, including contacts, gifts, pledges and stewardship benefits.

7.    Maintain timely recording of all pertinent information related to donor tracking.   

8.    Attend and participate in AFP events and meetings.

9.    Attend and participate in Executive Committee and Board of Directors monthly meetings providing monthly status reports on fundraising progress and future plans.

10.  Accurately track time and schedule, understanding the position is for an average of 40 hours per month.    

11.  Act as a professional representative of AFP Tampa Bay.

12.  All other duties as assigned
